1908 WILLIAM H. TAFT INAUGURAL METAL PLATE William H. Taft inaugural commemorative campaign plate made by Meek Company of Coshocton, Ohio to honor the Republican candidates from Fremont (1856) to Taft (1908), featuring a chromolithograph on metal with an image of the White House and portraits of Taft and his vice president, James S. Sherman. The border features portraits of previous Republican candidates since 1856. Written at the bottom are words: Grand Old Party /1856-1908/ Standard Bearers. 1856-1908. Note: a similar plate is in the Smithsonian Institution and another is on display at the Taft Room in the Ohio State House - dia.: 9.75 in.
