GROUP OF THREE JAPANESE SATSUMA VASES, 19TH CENTURY the largest vase of flaring form with Rakan and children, some raised and molded, the top with a brocade of apsara amidst clouds, the bottom signed 'Satsuma Hododa' beneath Satsuma mon, approx. h: 7.5 in.; the next, a small baluster vase with warriors at practice and Rakan, indistinctly signed, approx. h: 6.25 in.; the last, a tripod censer with cover decorated with Rakan, Satsuma mon, and writhing dragon, the base with a molded scrolling dragon, with raised highlights all over, the bottom signed 'Dai Nippon Ariake Yama Satsuma Kuni Takanobu-ga', the lid with molded karashishi, approx. h: 5.5 in.
