JAPANESE IMARI BARBER'S BOWL, EDO PERIOD (19TH CENTURY) with a deep central well and wide everted rim with semicircular cut out and two holes at the top for hanging, with a central vase of flowering chrysanthemum and bamboo fronds and fencing beyond, the reverse with three underglaze blue and iron red branches of flowering prunus, gilt highights, dia: 10.75 in.; together with an unusual Chinese export dish,18th Century, with design of four animals separated into quadrants by gilt lines ending in ruyi motifs, the center with an unusual emblem, the rim with bands of varying decoration and linked ruyi, dia: 8.5 in.
