PLASTER IMPRESSION OF A NATHANIEL MARCHANT GEM AND THREE GLASS PASTE GEMS AFTER JAMES TASSIE Nathaniel Marchant (1739-1816) was an English gem engraver and a member of the Royal Academy. The three gems after James Tassie depicting Leda and the Swan, Napoleon, and an eagle are similar but slightly different to designs pictured in Rudolph Erich Raspe's catalog of Catherine the Great's Tassie collection, varying sizes with the largest 1.25 in. (4)

Provenance: Part of a medallion collection that descended in the family of a British Tassie collector.
Montgomery Family, United Kingdom from at least the mid 19th century, to the present owner.
