Far left corner in cursive script: three hundred seal owner, (four hundred fifty sixth Jiazi (1st of every sixty years) 1924 date, painted in Cheng du Szechuan and in seal script; Old way. Qi Baishi seal. Far right corner in Chinese script eight character poem by Zhang Yan; saying you say it is the old way; you painted it in the new way, that shows you have a sense of humour and broad strokes January 8 1964, with Zhang Yan seal.


Provenance: A gift from the artist to Wen Lin Yao also known as Nan Zhi and by descent to the present owner
