Catalogue note: In Lakota lore, Wohpe is a spirit of peace and the wife of the south wind. When she visited the Earth, she gave the Lakota people a pipe as a symbol of peace.

Robert Orduño drew on his Gabrieleño/Tongva and Spanish heritage for his subject matter. He synthesized impressionistic, expressionistic, and abstract modes in his pictures, where he explored the metaphysical aspect of painting.
