TWO PLASTER RELIEF PORTRAIT BUSTS REPRESENTING HELEN KELLER AND JANE ADDAMS, FROM THE WASHINGTON NATIONAL CATHEDRAL, AMERICAN, 20TH CENTURY Helen Keller (1880-1968) was born in Alabama. She was a blind and deaf educator and a leading humanitarian, who co-founded the ACLU. She was interred at the Washington National Cathedral, as was her teacher, Anne Sullivan, h: 18 x w: 16.5 x d: 8 in.;
Jane Addams (1860-1935), wearing the larger pearls, was a social worker who focused on child welfare and public health. She co-founded one of the first settlements in the United States, Hull House in Chicago, and was named co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931. Before her death, the Bishop of the Washington National Cathedral asked her if she would like to be interred there, but she chose instead to be buried in her family plot in Cedarville, Illinois, h: 19 x w: 17 x d: 9 in.
