Matt Sturtevant

Potomack New York Representative and Furniture Specialist Matt Sturtevant formerly headed Christie’s 19th Century Furniture Department, and is a recognized expert in English, French and other European antique furniture, decorative arts and sculpture. During his extensive career in antiques appraisal, advisory and the auction business, Matt was head of Christie’s 19th-century furniture for 15 years. Over three decades, he has appraised and advised collectors about antiques and art and written about antiques, art and design for various magazines and publications. He has also taught and lectured over the years on art and antiques. During Potomack’s recent important sale of the William Myron Keck collection, Matt served at Potomack’s leading expert on French antiques in the collection crafted by notable cabinetmakers François Linke and Joseph-Émmanuel Zwiener and lectured at the Potomack gallery about the collection. Matt is a graduate of New York University.
