ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA, SLIP DECORATED THREE GALLON STONEWARE CROCK WITH COBALT DECORATION BY B.C. MILBURN, CIRCA 1850-1860 the lip over ovoid form with high shoulders and lugs, decorated with foliate cobalt slip trail decoration and impressed "B.C. MILBURN/ALEXA/3", h: 14.5 x dia. at lip: 7.5 in.

Note:
All 19th Century Alexandria identified slip-trailed stoneware found today was made at the Wilkes Street pottery and is stamped "B.C. Milburn"; his shop started decorating with cobalt slip around 1850. Milburn's shop was located at the corner of Washington and Wilkes in modern-day Old Town Alexandria.
