having a straight crest rail with deeply reeded carving over an upholstered back and tight fitted seat flanked by rolled arms with carved terminals over a carved front rail and raised on carved downswept legs terminating in brass casters, Baltimore, en suite with Lot 2095

General Second Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, 3rd highest General under Lee and Longstreet (3rd son of ) Dr. Thomas and Elizabeth Stoddert Ewell His grandfather, Benjamin Stoddert, First Secretary of the Navy
  • Dimensions: 35 x 91 x 23 in. (88.90 x 231.14 x 58.42 cm.)
  • Condition: Old nicks and scratches throughout. Discoloration, staining, wear on upholstery. Lacking casters. Brasses replaced. Back reinforced on both sides. Splits in back of arm rest panel. Back right leg restored and reinforced; end of foot replaced. Crack on the front right arm of the seat rail. Reinforcement on the front left leg; patching, cracking.
