Description:

ANN CHAMBERLIN
AMERICAN/MEXICAN
YELLOW JAILS
Gouache
Lower right signed: A Chamberlin

Catalogue note:
Ann Chamberlin is a painter living and working in Mexico and Los Angeles. Her paintings are presented in the manner and scale of dollhouses, where people are caught—like deer in the headlights—in mayhem or myth. The scenes are often set up as encounters. There are marauders on the horizon, obtrusive thought bubbles stemming from handsome sailors, or written pronouncements. The style is naïve—though never innocent.
