Literature: Durlin Brayton, a graduate of the Chicago Art Institute, and his second wife Ellen Webster Grieve (a.k.a. Webb), opened Brayton Laguna Pottery in their Laguna Beach, California home in 1927. Expanding to a dedicated facility employing 150 artists, designers and potters, the business was in operation until 1968. As an aside, it is interesting to note, the Braytons Laguna studio was the first to produce licensed ceramic figures based on The Walt Disney Company characters.
