Catalogue note:
Active in Pennsylvania and Italy, Cesare Ricciardi immigrated to the United States at the age of six. He pursued his artistic training at the Philadelphia Sketch Club and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied with Thomas Anschutz, Cecilia Beaux, and Robert Henri. The artist became well known as a 'society' portraitist who depicted sitters from Philadelphia and New York. Ricciadi executed landscapes of Addingham, Bucks, Delaware, and Chester counties in Pennsylvania as well as coastal and ports scenes of New England.
