Catalogue note:
Sotheby's New York sold an identical pair of dishes but larger, New York, Jan. 15, 2004, Lot 118.
An identical plate is illustrated by Howard, op.cit., pp. 129 and 326, No. J5, where the author notes that the service was probably made for Charles Pole (1695-1779), MP for Liverpool. A pair of plates from this service was also sold at Sotheby's New York, April 16, 1998, Lot 276.

  • Dimensions: Diameter: 9 in. (22.9 cm.)
  • Condition: Plate completely cracked on half and restuck. Tiny nibble to rim as well.
