CHINESE EXPORT ASSORTED GROUP OF THREE SPOON TRAYS: INCLUDING AN ARMORIAL EXAMPLE, A FLUTED HEXAGON WITH BIRDS ON FLOWERING BRANCHES AND A NARROW SCALLOPED EXAMPLE WITH A SEATED LADY AND TWO ATTENDANTS, CIRCA 1760-1770
the first, with an armorial crest in a shield within a wide jagged border, the rims with floral designs on brocade ground, gilt highlights, w: 5 in.; the second of fluted hexagon form, decorated with birds on flowering branches, the rims with a continuous band of flowering branches, w: 4 1/4 in.; and the third, with a seated lady and attendant behind her with a tall fan, and another kneeling attendant at her other side, the rims with an alternating band of black and white cell pattern and puce landscapes, w: 5 in.   • Condition: Armorial: Underside, with glaze gaps to exterior at 3 and 6. Spots of wear and loss to exterior 9. Interior at 3 and 6 with bruising and loss to rims. Nicks to 9 at rims. Enamels and gilt are bright, but for small wear and loss to bottom of iron red brocade band at 9. Fluted hexagon: Wear and loss to glaze at rims at 9 and 3. Minimal kiln grit but in spots to underside, visible in photos. Wear to glaze at junction of branch by left bird. Final: extensive wear and loss to gilt at rims. Also, wear and fading to gilt around Greek key band under rim. Burst glaze bubble to central design between head of attendant and fan. Loss to gilt/ enamel? below central figure and slight staining under left attendant. Some wear and loss to black enamels in spots to black brocade band. Underside visible in photos.
