CHINESE LADY'S MANCHU SILK EMBROIDERED INFORMAL ROBE Qing dynasty (18th/ 19th century) of bright blue silk satin embroidered with figures in landscapes enclosed with roundels stitched in satin and Beijing (forbidden) knot stitches and scattered butterflies, Buddhistic emblems and floral sprays all highlighted with couched gilt stitchery, cloud collar and asymmetrical neck closure band with molded gilt spherical buttons and black silk cording, double white silk satin embroidered sleeve bands, woven ribbon trim throughout, lined in pale pink thin silk -

Provenance: Purchased as No. 1897, Liberty & Co., London with letter dated 22nd November 1941. Identified as an 18th century lady's informal court robe, of the Manchu court.
