CHINESE MANCHU DIGNITARY'S DRAGON ROBE, LATE QING DYNASTY (20TH CENTURY) the yellow silk body with typical five-claw dragon decoration and the Twelve symbols, flowers, longevity characters and bats embroidered in satin stitch and reserved on couched gold keyfret pattern ground, the lower section with deep liu shui and the halberd, embroidered blue trim bands and tucked sleeves, gold braid trim, gilt buttons - h:57 in.

Literature: A very similar robe is illustrated in Chinese Dress: From the Qing Dynasty to Present, by Valery Garrett, fig. 23, p. 20 and called a Emperor's Dragon Robe, late 19th century.
