Catalog note: Cordray Parker was an American sculptor and architect who lived and worked in Birmingham, Alabama. He earned a degree in architecture from Auburn University and studied abroad in Florence and Vienna before teaching drawing at the Birmingham Museum of Art. His wife, Loni Parker, was a noted watercolorist and teacher at Indian Springs School in Birmingham. Parker is known for his many public bronze works, including the plaque of S. Richardson Hill, Jr. and the bust of Tinsley Harrison at the University of Alabama, a ceremonial mace for the university, "In Memory of the Six Million" at Temple Emanu-El, "Nike (Winged Victory)" at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, the Chancel Cross at All Saints Episcopal Church, and "Discovery" at the Birmingham Children's Hospital.
