marked under base, the central ovoid serving dish, liner and pierced strainer dish, with revolving cover and vacant shield-shaped cartouche, branch form handles to sides, and all atop scroll-topped paw feet. underside marked EPNS (electro-plated nickel silver)

  • Provenance:
    According to owner: Colonel William Knox (who served as Queen Victoria's Head Body Guard), received this serving dish as a wedding gift from Queen Victoria in the 1850s. He gave it to his son, Col. J.F. Knox born circa 1870 in Brittas Castle, Thurles, County Tipperary. He in turn gave it to my mother in 1950 as a wedding present
