ENGLISH CREAMWARE INSCRIBED AND DATED ‘CASTLE-DECORATED’ TEAPOT AND COVER
dated 1771, probably Yorkshire (Hunslet), the decoration attributed to The Leeds Pottery trading under Humble, Greens and Company, ovoid with curved fern-molded spout, the entwined strap handle with flower terminals, the flat cover with flower finial, one side enameled in iron-red and black with a three tower crenelated castle, the central tower flying a large pennant, the other side inscribed in black ‘Ann Hough 1771’, within a lobed foliate surround, h: 5 1/8 x l: 7 1/2 in.
