the panel with a linen ground worked in Florentine and tent stitches and centrally depicting a betrothed couple flanked by a lion and deer or unicorn (horn possibly later) with a sun, flowers and birds and a butterfly; the sampler signed at the bottom 'C. Apel' and dated 1836 (2)
