FRENCH OVAL GESSO AND GILT MIRROR, CIRCA 1795 the carved rope-like outer border and beaded inner border flanking twelve panels of mirror glass divided by fan shaped posts each centering a demi-ball, inscription on back of mirror: "This mirror was one of two just alike brought from Paris by Chief Justice Oliver Ellsworth, about the year 1797 and given to his twin sons, Gov. Wm. Ellsworth and Hon. H.I. Ellsworth whose last wife left this by will to his grand-niece" - h:33 w:24 in.
