GEORGE I WALNUT CABINET ON CHEST, CIRCA 1715, POSSIBLY BY COXED & WOSTER the molded rectangular cornice above a conforming case fitted with two doors enclosing various sized drawers over a conforming lower case fitted with a secretary drawer over three drawers on bracket and bun feet;

Note: a nearly identical cabinet on chest attributed to the St. Paul's Churchyard cabinet makers Coxed & Woster sold Christie's London, Lot 31, May 22, 2018 for 12,500 pounds hammer - h:74.50 w:43 d:20.25 in.

Provenance: Readbourne Estate; Queen Anne County

Literature: The offered lot corresponds closely to two bearing John Coxed's trade label, both illustrated in A. Bowett, "English Furniture 1660-1714", Woodbridge, 2002, p. 226, pls 7.59 and 7.60, and another bearing the Coxed & Woster's later style of label circa 1720 is illustrated in C. Gilbert, "Pictorial Dictionary of marks on London Furniture 1700-1840", Leeds, 1996, p. 161, fig. 250
