the pediment signed verso John Gulley, the dentiled cornice applied with foliate shell over three glazed mullioned doors above a lower case fitted with a secretary drawer with Bramah lock above two paneled doors enclosing a fitted interior on bracket feet

    Sold by the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley to benefit acquisition and conservation funds. Estate of Julian Wood Glass, Jr. (1910-1992) of Winchester, Virginia; New York, New York; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
  • Dimensions: 101 x 43 1/2 x 14 1/4 in. (256.54 x 110.49 x 36.20 cm.)
  • Condition: Object is associated/married (upper and lower cases did not originate together and moldings applied to the two pieces), feet and brasses are both replaced, pediment is reconstructed, dentils and possibly shell carving are replacements, applied bellflower is missing from outside corner of proper-right door, another example is missing petal in upper proper-left of secretary drawer, molding and veneer strip missing from same side at waist, brass interior elements (locks and hinges) actively oxidizing
