Note: "The label on the back of the painting indicates that the work was exhibited at the RA Winter exhibition rather than the annual (summer) exhibition. (The Winter Exhibitions began in 1870). The date on the label implies it was exhibited sometime in the 1870s. The lender, the Reverend John Abbiss, only lent works to one Winter Exhibition, the 1871 exhibition"
