Catalogue note: painter known for his detailed, sometimes surreal, depictions of urban scenes, including SoHo rooftops, brick buildings, and, occasionally, figurative works; he worked in oil, acrylic, and casein on masonite. Liebermann trained as an architect at Harvard under Walter Gropius before settling in SoHo, New York City in 1968, purchasing a loft at 451 West Broadway. He quickly became active in the SoHo Artists Association serving as its first president. Collections: Leslie-Lohman Museum, New York; Art Institute, Flint, Michigan; Province of Alberta Museum of Art, Edmonton, Canada; The Vatican Museum; and the Wellington-Ivest Collection, Boston.
