Description:

GERMAN SAXON GARDE-REITER REGIMENT HELMET, LATE 19TH OR EARLY 20TH CENTURY
with a gilt 'AR' (Augustus Rex) cypher of Saxony under the lion. On the front of the helmet is the gilded Saxon coat-of-arms over a guard star. Backwards FS etched into the bottom of the lion's front left leg and an "A" etched into the bottom of the front left paw. All screws included. Lion is hollow and made from zinc, with the original silver plating worn down considerably. The lion is attached with three screws to a nickel-finished bottom plate and the bottom plate is attached properly to the helmet with what appears to be the original washer and bolt.
