GROUP OF DELFT VASES AND COVERED JARS, 18TH CENTURY AND LATER
including a hexagonal high shouldered vase, with script signature under base, decorated with a fanciful bird in the Chinese taste with rockery and a large flower all within molded borders of leafy tendrils and raised flowerheads to upper and lower sections, the reverse with a vertical scroll to panel between panels with flowers and leaves on stems, h: 9 1/2 in.; a jar and cover, signed under base with a conjoined A and P, 3 and a scroll mark, decorated with a gentleman playing a lute under a tree all within raised rocaille scrolling borders and the sides decorated with stems of stylized flowers, the paneled covered topped by a seated Buddhistic lion, h: 12 1/2 in.; the next, a covered jar and cover signed under base with a scroll and number 150, decorated with flowers on a closely patterned ground within raised blue scrolling borders and matching cover with close decoration and bird on branch finial, h: 12 3/4 in.; a small unsigned vase decorated with a fisherman by a tower and at water's edge within raised rocaille borders, the reverse with a single loosely painted leafy spray, h: 7 1/4 in.; and a high shouldered vase, signed in script under base, decorated in the Chinese taste with flowers, rockery and a lattice-patterned fence within raised scrolling borders, the sides and reverse with scattered prunus, h: 8 1/4 in.   • Condition: Bird on rockery: tip of tail to cover missing as well as glaze to front corner of rim, jar has small losses to rims all around and scattered around foot. Flaws in the making but losses typical of this type of tin glaze. Jar with dog finial: Cover with glaze flaked around lower riim and bruise to dog's cheek. Jar with some kind of old yellow 'paste' around rim, small areas of glaze flaking around whole rim, lower section by foot drilled for electricity and repainted below. Adhesions from yellow paste scattered all over. Base and lower section stained brown and with scuffing, wear and tear. High shouldered vase lacking cover, with Chinese prunus and lattice, raised rocaille borders have glaze loss and small chipping to raised bits and around rim. Glaze loss around base, but very nice painting. High shouldered vase lacking rim: with phoenix, raised parts of decoration with glaze flaking and loss. Rim with glaze loss. Raised vining leaves with losses to raised bits. to shoulders and around base. Flaws in the firing (but small) scattered all over. This vase also has to base some sort of rubber cement or museum clear putty, it is very sticky and hard to remove. Small vase with Classical landscape: Lacking cover. Old repair around rim, like a plaster. Hairline crack extending from rim to bottom of tower. Vase has been broken in bits across body, shoulder and base and shows evidence of old repair.. Glaze flaking to base.
