GROUP OF JAPANESE CERAMICS IN THE KAKIEMON STYLE, EDO PERIOD
including a low dish with shaped rim enameled with flowering prunus and bamboo, three stilt marks to underside, dia: 7 1/4 in.; including a low bowl with swirling fluted sides centered by a Ho-ho bird and within a band of flowering prunus and chrysanthemum on a bamboo fence and bluebird in flight, the exterior with bamboo and an iron-red cloud scroll, dia: 5 3/4 in.; a low squared bowl with scalloped rims decorated with flowering chrysanthemum, w: 4 1/4 in.; and a cup and saucer, the cup decorated with 'three friends of winter' and interior with iron-red keyfret and matching saucer dish with decorations en suite, gilt highlights, diameters of cup: 3 in. and saucer dish: 4 3/4 in.   • Condition: From left to right, as in 1st photo: Saucer dish with iron red prunus has several small chips to rims. Also, some soiling to foot ring. Floriform bowl: several glaze losses to rim, small chip size. One petal of rim, has been restuck, approx. 1/2 x 1/4 in. it's over one of the large floral sprays. Looks as if several of petals have been slightly reduced. Rims not even exactly. One glaze flaw above small flower spray. Some losses to inside of foot ring, 2 chips.. Largest dish of a creamier tone than other pieces. Looks as if interior of dish has been sprayed. If so, very well done. Stilt marks under foot, foot with a tiny burst glaze bubble. Bowl with central ho-o has several burst glaze bubbles to interior, one larger one to exterior. Slightly soiled foot ring with one tiny nibble. Bowl is dirty and needs a gentle clean. Cup has partially worn iron red line below rim to exterior, and unevenly painted in parts. One small nibble to inside of foot ring. Some scattered minuscule firing flaws, mostly to interior.
