Catalogue note:
Helen was born into the Santa Clara Pueblo Community in New Mexico. She attended the University of New Mexico, studying art history and anthropology. Hardin briefly studied weaving and textile design at the University of Arizona before returning to painting. The artist's work depicts colorful abstracted images of Katsina figures (spirit guides) and examines cultural and social issues of the Native Americans.
