This work was first published in Paris in October 1925 as "From a Work in Progress" in the Navire d’Argent. After two subsequent revisions and publications, it was again revised and published in book form by Crosby Gaige in 1928. "Anna Livia Plurabelle" would become a chapter in Joyce's FINNEGAN'S WAKE (pp. 196-216), which was published in book form in London by Faber and Faber in 1939.
