by tradition made by the brothers Joshua and John Green of Hunslett, Leeds, the center printed in black, polychrome enameled and enriched with the arms of Sir Charles Smyth, 5th Baronet (1711-1773) High Sheriff of Essex, impaling those of his wife Elizabeth Burgess, above a banderole inscribed with the family motto 'QUA POTE LUCET', the shaped rim with raised feathered edge

Here cited, "Sir Algernon Tudor-Craig, great-great-great-grandson of Charles Smyth and Elizabeth Burgess, illustrate a bottle and two plates from this service, which remained in the family's possession and provide the attribution, "Armorial Porcelain of the Eighteenth Century", p. 115."

  • Condition: Hairline crack at three o'clock and abrasions to underside, minor wear to armorial, even crazing with some light staining
