LENGTH OF FRENCH SILK RIBBON BY GRANGLER FRERES, DEPICTING THE SHIP "WELLINGTON", 1852-1903 AND TWO PIECES OF SCRIPT FROM THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA, SIGNED BY KEMP P. BATTLE, PUBLIC TREASURER, 1867-1868, TOGETHER WITH LEATHER SPECTACLE CASE Dumbarton states that two pieces of scrip from the state of North Carolina, signed by Kemp P. Battle, Public Treasurer, both on one piece of brown paper with black ink (torn into two), one printed: "The State of North Carolina will pay $3.00 to bearer at the National Bank of the Republic in the City of New York on the First day of July 1867:, the other similarly printed but dated 1868; length of French silk ribbon by Grangier Freres, with woven designs depicting the ship "Wellington" in port with a landscape background, an eagle with spread wings and lightning below a crown, and the British royal coat of arms with lion and unicorn rampant and motto "Dieu et Mond Droit>", below the coat of arms is woven "Grangier Fres" and "Ogier Dels" approx. 3 3/8 x 7.75 in.
