Russia, mid-to-late 20th Century, the first figure group with characters from Chekhov's short story 'A Chameleon', printed blue LFZ mark, the lamp post street corner scene including the Borzoi Puppy, the Goldsmith Khriukin, Officer Eldyrin and Superintendent Otchumelov, h: 8.75 in.; the second featuring two figures of Leo Tolstoy's character Phillipoch, printed blue LFZ Cyrillic mark, 1 sort and painted 194, designed by A. Pahomov, each boy modeled striding, holding a schoolbook under his right arm and wearing an Ushanka fur hat and woven lapti, h: 5.75 in. each; together with a Soviet Lomonosov style figure of a small boy, 1 sort, modeled standing with oversized shoes, h: 6.25 in.
