Catalogue note:
Conant was active/lived in Massachusetts, California. Conant studied painting at the Acadêmie Julian under Héctor Leroux, René Ménard, and Jean-Paul Laurens. In 1888, Conant spent the summer in the town of Concarneau in Brittany with her new friend Cecilia Beaux and her cousin Mary Whitlock. She exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago, the City Museum of St. Louis, and the Panama-Pacific Exposition, San Francisco, 1915. There was a memorial exhibition of the artist's work at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in 1922.
