Luis Camnitzer was at the vanguard of 1960s Conceptualism, being one of the first artists to incorporate political activism to the school. He moved to New York in 1964 and co-founded the New York Graphic Workshop, which sought to redefine and revive contemporary printmaking. Beginning in the late 1960s, Camnitzer's practice has examined socio-political issues, including the oppression and cruelty of military dictatorships in Latin America.
