Description:

MATTHEW BOULTON OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE GILT CRESTED BIGGIN ON STAND WITH BURNER, CIRCA 1810
the pot with lower fluted band, and shell and gadrooned borders to shoulder, all below an elaborate crest, with fitted stand and burner, the stand with shell and gadrooned border and three everted shell form feet, pot with Boulton sun marks, ivory handle and finial

  • Provenance:
    At Shrubsole, NY, September 1964
  • Dimensions: Height: 10 in. (25.4 cm.)
  • Condition: Appears to previously been 'lacquered' which I believe accounts for black marks to all three pieces. Good casting. Gilt worn but evident to all. Ivory handle and finial have patination and age cracking due to use and age. Inside biggin, I found the original Shrubsole bill dated 1964.
