Note (from the Dalzell Hatfield Gallery records, via the Getty Library Catalog):
"The Dalzell Hatfield Gallery initially opened in Los Angeles in 1925, then ran continuously from 1939 until 1984 at the Ambassador Hotel. It displayed the work by European and American masters, as well as quite a number of contemporary artists. It sold works ranging from furniture and tapestries to Old Masters paintings, and played an instrumental role in introducing modern art to the West. The gallery organized early exhibitions of Pierre Renoir (1940), Raoul Dufy (1940), Salvador Dalí (1941), Max Pechstein (1959), Gabriele Münter (1960), and Picasso's Vollard Suite (1956), and can be credited with the discovery of Millard Sheets. This is the same Ambassador Hotel where Senator Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed."
