NATIVE AMERICAN POLYCHROME COILED BASKET, WASHOE circa 1915-20, attributed to Sarah Jim Mayo of Carson Valley (1850-1925), single rod, abstracted butterfly design motif, h: 4 x dia: 6.25 in.

Attribution was made by Washoe basketry scholar, Marvin Cohodas, PhD - see accompanying attribution letter dated 1996

Provenance: Estate of Congressman James D. Santini (Nevada), Presidential Appointee under Ronald Reagan to The Institute of American Indian Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
