NYMPHENBURG PORCELAIN EQUESTRIAN FIGURE, 'THE RIDER', TWO NYMPHENBURG PORCELAIN MODELS OF HORSES WITH NYMPHENBURG PORCELAIN BUST OF A LAUGHING CHILD, 'KINDERBUST' 20th Century, printed green and impressed Bavarian shield marks, model nos. 823/l, 733b, 807 and 928, in the white, including: a monumental statue of Jan Wellem, The Elector Of Dusseldorf, designed by sculptor Gabriel de Grupello in 1711, depicted in royal attire, seated on a fine stallion, a scepter in his right hand, the reins held firmly in his left, the stepped square base with the raised inscription 'JAN WELLEM' and 'DUSSELDORF' and 'AG' monogram; a rearing stallion, 'Aufsteigendes Pferd', signed in the mold A.(ugust) Gohring, designed in 1930; a trotting stallion, 'Pferd in Trab', after the model by Entwurf Hanns Goebl, depicted whinnying mid-trot; and a 'Kinderbust', after a model by Franz Anton Bustelli of 1761, depicted with his hair tied-back at the nape of his neck with a bow, wearing a loose ruffled shirt, on a waisted quatrefoil rocaille-molded socle base pierced with three apertures - h: 10 in. Literature: The monument by Grupello can still be found in the central square in front of the Old Town Hall in Dusseldorf. The sculpture, known as "The Rider", is the oldest statue in Dusseldorf and considered one of the most relevant Baroque statues in Europe.
