PAIR OF ENGLISH WHITE TERRACOTTA STONEWARE DOUBLE-SIDED 'ENCAUSTIC-DECORATED' OCTAGONAL 'CAMEOS' circa 1773, unmarked, attributed to Wedgwood, Chelsea Studios workshop, London, each applied and painted in blue with relief figures of Aesculapius and Polymnia within applied decorative borders painted in reddish-brown and black, both with scored edge, h: 7/8 in. (2)

Catalogue Note:
Double-sided cameos were particularly produced to be mounted in jewelry and were especially suited for pendants as they could be viewed from both sides. Archival records confirm they were supplied to Boulton in 1773 for mounting under 'Chrystals' (watch glasses).
