two Spode Greek Revival iron-red transfer-printed creamware square tiles, circa 1805-1810, after Kirk's engravings of Sir William Hamilton's vases, one depicting 'Zeus in his Chariot'; the other with 'Refreshments for Phliasian Horseman' (2)

Catalogue note:
Starting in 1806, Spode had a dedicated 'Red Shop' which mainly employed the 'Pluck and Dust' method to print in iron-red from copper plates over the glaze onto creamware.
