the ephemera, glue down to a paper board in a 19th century black and gilt carved frame, consisting of a letter from Garfield, dated January 17, 1881, an engraved invitation to the Inaugural Reception - Promenade Concert, a black bordered invitation to the Memorial Service of Garfield, a black bordered card Obsequies of the Late President James A. Garfield in Rotunda of Capitol, a ticket to the National Museum dated March 4, 1881, a bookplate from the Inauguration Ball 1881, a card from the Executive Mansion admitting Col. H.C. Corbin to Mrs. Garfield's Car, signed by J. Stanley Brown (Private Secretary to President Garfield), dated September 23, 1881, and another Executive Mansion card, signed by F.T. Runnerman? (now heavily faded), Ribon from the Inauguration - Executive Committee, 1881

Note:
Lt. Gen. Henry Clark Corbin was an American military officer who was Adjutant General of the United States Army from 1898 to 1904, in his youth he worked on President Garfield's staff (was present at Garfield's assassination), as well as that of his predecessor, Rutherford Hayes, he also served corresponding secretary for the Presidential Inaugural Committee of 1881.

Yours of the 14 inst. came duly to hand.
I wrote what you say in regard to horses. Please, communicate the same suggestions to Rockwell who has been looking after the matter for me. I think it is better to make some temporary arrangements rather than purchase horses in haste.
