Description:

SAINT-CLOUD PORCELAIN BLUE AND WHITE SUGAR-BOWL AND COVER, 1740-1750
blue painted St.C T mark, of gadrooned tapering cylindrical form, with blue Berainesque lambrequin at the rims, the cover with a stemmed flat button finial, a dotted arcade pattern at the footrim

  • Provenance:
London Ceramics Fair, SMC, June 16, 2007
With Bernard Dragesco and Didier Cramoisan, Paris, 880 pounds ($1,760)
From the Collection of Diana Edwards Murnaghan, No. 381

    Catalogue note:
Compare Bertrand Rondot, "Discovering the Secrets at the Saint-Cloud Manufactory 1660-1766", (1999), no. 45. It is interesting to note, the inclusion of the 'T' in the mark seems to imply a date of after 1722, corresponding to the year Henri and Gabriel Trou inherited an interest in the firm and renewed the patent.
  • Dimensions: Height overall: 4 1/4 in. (10.8 cm.)
  • Condition: Three small repaired chips to rim of cover
