SET OF EIGHT QUEEN ANNE STYLE DINING CHAIRS WITH BLUE SILK VELVET AND IMPRINTED WITH THE IMPERIAL EMBLEM OF IRAN DURING THE PAHLAVI DYNASTY MAHOGANY OVERUPHOLSTERED DINING CHAIRS having an arched crest above a tight back imprinted with the emblem of the lion and the sun, (the former coat of arms for Iran from 1846 until the 1979 revolution), above a tight overupholstered seat above mahogany front cabriole legs and slightly splayed back legs, includes six side and two arm chairs. After the Iranian Embassy was closed in Washington, when Pres. Carter broke off diplomatic relations, these chairs, among other items, were sold at auction by the US government in 1983 to cover repairs at the embassy building.
