SEVRES PORCELAIN BLEU CELESTE FLOWER VASE AND PIERCED STAND (VASES 'HOLLANDOIS', 2EME GRANDEUR) French, blue interlaced L's enclosing date letter A for 1754 and painter's script G mark for Cardin, both sections quatrefoil, the flaring vase painted with four oval panels, each centering a loose bouquet within a ciselé garland surround, the shaped stand with four pierced apertures to the shoulders above horizontal panels of trailing flowers, the apertures, panels and ground edged in gilt lines, the mouth with a gilt dentil rim, h: 7.5 x w: 7.75 in.

Claude Joseph Cardin was a painter of flowers active at Vincennes-Sevres from 1749-1787. The vase Hollandois was designed for the planting and growing of flower bulbs. The lower section is pierced to receive water and act as a reservoir. h:7.75 w:7.50 in.
