SIX SILVER FRENCH AND AMERICAN SERVING SPOONS circa 1699-1801, French and American silver, each spoon monogrammed "PL" on the handle, five engraved "1801" on back of handle and one marked "1699" on the back of the handle, maker's mark on back side of later five spoons reads "S Ayres", each is l: 9.75 in. (6)

Provenance: Said by the donor to have descended in the LeGrand family of France, with one of the spoons having been made in France in 1699 and the other five ordered by a descendent and made in America in 1801 to match; Bequest of Lucy Key Miller Sturges (1911-1996), 1996; Property of The Society of the Cincinnati [M.1996.002.3.1-.6]
