Literature: Cliff Cornell (1892-1960) was a Cleveland based American Industrialist. In 1956, he commissioned Doulton to make a caricature jug of himself in three color variations and two sizes. To be given as gifts to friends & associates at Thanksgiving approximately 500 blue-suited jugs were made. Besides their physical resemblance, he was purported to be an admirer of Winston Churchill and requested that the design resemble the caricature jug of the former British Prime Minister. See the Winston Churchill jug designed by Harry Fenton, first issued in 1841.
