THREE NATIVE AMERICAN MARKET ART POTTERY PIECES / HARRIET WILCOX / ROSE RYDINGS Cincinnati, OH; Zanesville, OH and Kansas City, MO, including a Rookwood portrait tobacco jar, date cypher for 1898, impressed RP flame mark and model no. 801, decorator's initial HEW for Harriet (aka Hattie) Elizabeth Wilcox (1869-1943), cylindrical, finely painted with the portrait of the Native American Sioux Chief, Conquering Bear, standard glaze in shades of yellow and brown; a Weller 'Souevo' vase, circa 1915-1920, incised 9, in the Native American style, the neck incised with a double scallop line, the body with a broad geometric band enriched in black and white, on a terracotta ground, h: 8 1/8 in.; and a Rozart pottery 'Twainware' portrait mug, 'Medicine Man', circa 1974, incised twig mark, Twain, 1125C1274, and copyright R, decorator's initials RR for Rose Rydings at the side, in the Weller Pottery 'Dickens ware' style, the sgraffito shoulder-length portrait slip decorated in colors, matte graduated green to brown ground, the interior glazed (3)
