THREE PAIRS OF LATE 19TH CENTURY LADY'S KNIT STOCKINGS, INCLUDING A CIVIL WAR ERA SILK PAIR IN BLUE AND WHITE STRIPES one pair of white knit cotton stockings with openwork knitted lace throats, with seams at tip of toe and from sole up back of leg, faint writing on very top cuff of left stocking possibly reads "MA Smoot 6" in dark brown, similar writing on right stocking reads "MA Smoot 6"; second pair blue and white striped stockings with a white cuff bordered by small blue stripes, embroidered blue clocks terminating in leaf shape on both sides of ankle, soles (knit separately and sewn to body of stocking) and toes of stockings are white with blue seams, one side of top edge of each stocking has diamond pattern at center of cuff and "B" knit into top near cuff; last pair are lady's white knit cotton stockings with diamond-patterned openwork lace design at throat, fully fashioned with seams at toe and back of leg and foot, "PARIS" knit into top of each stocking near cuff at front (3 pairs)
